The Boot Index uses Google Analytics 4 and a separate first-party page-flow measurement. This page describes both.
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand which pages people read and how they found the site. The standard Google tag uses first-party cookies, including _ga, to distinguish users and sessions. Google receives measurements such as page visits, session activity, referral source, approximate location, and browser or device information.
We also send GA4 custom events when an Amazon button becomes at least 50% visible and when someone clicks one. Those events include the page path, button label, destination URL, and a stable button identifier. A visibility event does not open or contact Amazon, and neither event is intended to contain a name, email address, or other direct contact information.
First-party page-flow measurement
Separately, the site sends a cookieless page-view beacon to /px on thebootindex.com. It uses a generated per-tab identifier and sequence number stored in sessionStorage, plus the page path, referrer, and any UTM source, medium, or campaign values in the page URL. This lets us understand navigation paths without creating an account or profile.
Cloudflare supplies approximate country, region, and city information for the request, and the collector derives a broad device category. The stored first-party record does not include your IP address, full user agent, name, or email address. Cloudflare hosts and processes this first-party measurement; Google processes GA4 measurements under its own terms.
Your choices
You can block or delete GA4 cookies and block analytics scripts with browser privacy settings or extensions. Blocking JavaScript also prevents the first-party beacon. The site's page content remains readable without either measurement system.
Affiliate links
When you choose a link to Amazon, your browser leaves this site and Amazon may use cookies or similar identifiers on its own domain to attribute a qualifying purchase. Amazon's handling of that visit is governed by its privacy policy, not ours. See our affiliate disclosure for how those links work.
What we do not do
- We do not run accounts, logins, or profiles.
- We do not sell our analytics records.
- We do not run third party ad networks.
If you email us through the contact page, we keep the message so we can reply. That is all it gets used for.
